Sometimes, life happens – and the house gets messy. Not just a few dishes in the sink messy, but what on earth happened in here?! messy. (For me, that’s usually on a day I do a big art or science project with my girls.) And when you’re short on time and patience, a full deep-clean just isn’t happening. That’s where the 15-Minute Reset comes in.
The goal? Not perfection, just progress. Here’s how to make the biggest impact in the shortest amount of time:
- Start with Surfaces – Clear off countertops, tables, and any other high-traffic areas. Even just stacking papers neatly and tossing obvious trash can create a sense of calm.
- Quick Declutter – Grab a laundry basket or tote bag and do a quick sweep of anything that’s out of place. Don’t worry about putting things away just yet—just gather the clutter so it’s not visually overwhelming.
- Plump & Fluff – Plump the couch cushions, fold throw blankets, and straighten chairs. These tiny adjustments instantly make a space feel more polished.
- Freshen the Air – Crack a window, spritz a room spray, or light a candle. A fresh scent gives the illusion of cleanliness even if you didn’t have time to deep clean.
- Do One Quick Task That Annoys You – Is it that pile of shoes by the door? The dishes in the sink? I personally dislike emptying the little trash cans in the bathrooms that are always overflowing with q-tips. Tackling one thing that’s been bugging you makes you feel accomplished and keeps little messes from becoming big ones.
Whew! That’s it. Fifteen minutes, five steps, and a home that feels more put together. And sometimes, that little boost is all you need to keep going!
